Shipwreck Diving
Ilha De Mocambique (a UNESCO World Heritage site) has some of the best shipwreck diving sites in the world. It is a unique opportunity to explore shipwrecks that are both historically significant and rich in marine life.
The island’s strategic location along ancient trade routes has led to numerous shipwrecks over the centuries, many of which are now accessible to divers.
There is an 18th-century Slave Ship. This vessel, believed to be L’Aurore, sank in 1790 following a mutiny by the enslaved individuals onboard. The site offers a poignant glimpse into the tragic history of the transatlantic slave trade.
